Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross to defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against The Kabuki Warriors on Raw

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross will defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on the Raw after SummerSlam against a team that came very close to winning them instead: Asuka & Kairi Sane. The Kabuki Warriors will challenge the new champs just one week after the Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match that saw Bliss & Cross snap the four-month reign of The IIconics.

The Kabuki Warriors were the runners-up in that match, and they might have been the winners if not for some well-timed chicanery on behalf of Cross, who trapped Asuka in the ring apron and distracted Kairi Sane before she could deliver her signature InSane Elbow Drop to Bliss. The interference catapulted the unlikely duo of Bliss & Cross to championship status — this is Bliss’ third distinct title in WWE and Cross’ first — but clearly, they’ll have their work cut out for them.

The Kabuki Warriors pursued the titles relentlessly while The IIconics were champions, and coming as close as they did to victory seems to have only intensified the chase. Bliss & Cross have an opportunity to etch their names in the history books with the young titles. However, should they choose to rest on their laurels after surviving The IIconics in their rematch during the SummerSlam Kickoff, their entry will be a short one.

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax

When Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defends her title against her longtime “best friend” Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34, The Goddess of WWE may be asking herself the same question that’s on the mind of the WWE Universe: “How did we get here?”

With the championship around her waist and Mickie James and Jax by her side, Bliss thought she had the Raw Women’s division completely under her thumb. The titleholder seemed supremely confident that she could hold on to the title for the foreseeable future… but then she let her guard down.

As WrestleMania 34 approached and the WWE Universe began to wonder what would happen if the “BFFs” ever collided, Little Miss Bliss started to tactically tear down The Irresistible Force, all while claiming that it was coming from a caring place. Bliss jumped at every opportunity to reinforce the idea that Nia had “let everyone down,” only to then offer to help build Jax back up as a means of keeping her out of the title picture.

Bliss revealed her true colors on the March 12 edition of Raw when Bliss believed she was having a private conversation with Mickie about how she actually couldn’t stand Jax… only to find out that the cameras were rolling, and the mics were hot. Nia, witnessing this from the ring as it happened, became instantly enraged, chased after the panicked Alexa and then laid out Mickie the following week while Bliss still attempted to keep her distance.

What will happen when The Irresistible Force finally gets her hands on Bliss at WrestleMania? Will Alexa overcome incredible odds to prevail with the Raw Women’s Title yet again? Or will Jax show why Alexa wanted to keep her out of the title scene by triumphing over Little Miss Bliss?

Asuka puts her streak on the line against Alexa Bliss

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will have Mickie James in her corner when she takes on Asuka Monday night on Raw, but Little Miss Bliss surely won’t have Nia Jax by her side after she unwittingly insulted The Irresistible Force in front of the entire WWE Universe this past Monday night.

As Alexa looks to snap The Empress of Tomorrow’s streak, how will the seething Jax factor into the situation?

No Mercy 2017 Preview

Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs Sasha Banks vs. Bayley vs. Nia Jax vs. Emma (Fatal 5-Way Match)

Alexa Bliss will look to retain her Raw Women’s Championship against incredible odds when “The Goddess” battles Sasha Banks, Bayley, Nia Jax and Emma in a Fatal 5-Way Match at No Mercy.

A four-time Women’s Champion, Sasha is poised to reclaim her title after losing it to Alexa on the Aug. 28 edition of Monday Night Raw. The Boss has proven herself a ground-breaking Superstar time and time again, going to battle in everything from WWE Iron Man Matches to the first-ever Women’s Hell in a Cell Match. She is an extremely dangerous competitor with no love lost for the current titleholder, and it’s safe to say she will be out to prove ignorance is Bliss at WWE No Mercy.

While the dominant Nia Jax has been a consistent threat to the Raw Women’s Title, her friendship with Alexa has often clouded the issue. That all changed just moments after Little Miss Bliss regained the championship gold from Sasha. Though Nia appeared to be coming to the ring to congratulate the new champ, the celebration quickly took a destructive turn when the Samoan Superstar suddenly dropped her best friend to the canvas without warning. The message was loud and clear: Nia Jax is coming for the Raw Women’s Championship at all costs.

While the WWE No Mercy showdown was originally intended to be a one-one-one clash between Alexa and Sasha, Emma and Nia overcame The Boss and the titleholder in a tag team bout to make it a Fatal 4-Way Match. Emma claims to be instrumental in bringing about the Women’s Revolution, and she will surely be hungry to solidify her place at the top of the mountain Sunday night.

But wait, there’s more. Less than a week before WWE No Mercy, Bayley returned in her hometown of San Jose, Calif., making the bout a Fatal 5-Way Match.

While a Fatal 5-Way certainly stacks the odds against the reigning titleholder, as she doesn’t have to be pinned or submit to lose her championship, don’t count out Alexa just yet. “The Goddess” stands as a two-time Raw Women’s Champion, a two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and the first (and still only) Superstar to ever hold both of those titles. Whether you like her or hate here, the ruthless competitor has accumulated so much success in such a brief time because she is just that good.

Who will walk out of WWE No Mercy with the Raw Woman’s Title? Find out this Sunday at 8 ET/5 PT, streaming live on award-winning WWE Network.

Last week, Naomi achieved a lifelong dream by capturing the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Alexa Bliss at WWE Elimination Chamber. However, in the process of carrying out such a monumental victory, the glowing Superstar suffered an injury that rendered her unable to grant Bliss her guaranteed title rematch two days later on SmackDown LIVE.

In response, The Wicked Witch of WWE opted to give the new titleholder one week before coming to take back what she believes is hers. Will Naomi be ready to throw down? What will Alexa do if she isn’t?
